One-story house 13 by 13: features of choosing a project and carrying out construction work

Having your own home is the dream of every city dweller, because with the rapid growth of modern megacities, life in them becomes simply impossible. This is due to the fact that constant noise, poor ecology and problems with eternal traffic jams significantly worsen the quality of life. Today, building a country house is not difficult, and the final cost of the work, if you carry it out yourself, will probably be lower than buying an apartment in one of the high-rise buildings on the outskirts of the city. In addition, you can choose for yourself which material is most suitable for building your dream cottage.

One-story house with three rooms

Popular today is the construction of houses from timber, brick, and light metal structures. If your budget is limited, then we recommend turning your attention to prefabricated structures. They are distinguished by their low weight, efficiency, and high-speed construction. In this article we will look at how to choose the right drawing of a 12 by 13 house, and also reveal several subtleties and nuances that you may certainly encounter.

We create a house project with our own hands

Of course, the initial stage of any construction is the selection of the most optimal project. When choosing or creating it, it is important to take into account absolutely everything - the climatic features of the area, the characteristics of the site, the desired number of storeys of the structure, etc. It is best to entrust the design of a 12x13 house to professional designers who have experience in this matter. They will be able to carry out not only all the necessary calculations and measurements, but also visualize the created drawing so that you get acquainted with the appearance of the house that it will have in the final result. This will allow you to bring the building to the look that you imagine in your head. Today on the Internet you can find a huge number of different programs that allow you to create circuits without the involvement of specialists. But remember that for this you will need considerable knowledge in the field of design, otherwise the drawings will have inaccuracies and oversights. It is strongly recommended not to skimp on the development of the project, because not only the external characteristics of the building, but also its strength, and in many ways also its durability, depend on the quality of its implementation.

Nisenzon was the last to be killed. He and his wife hid in the cellar, but hearing the screams of those being killed and realizing that murder and death had already entered house No. 13, they ran out into the street. Nisenzon managed to escape into the courtyard opposite and could have saved himself, but thugs chased after his wife. He rushed to her and began to call her. This got his attention. They left the wife and chased after the husband; he managed to run to house number 7 on Asiatsky Lane. Here he was overtaken and killed. In this case, two surnames are called, one with a Polish ending, the other Moldavian. It rained before Easter, and there were still puddles in the holes and on the sides of the streets. Nisenzon fell into one of these puddles, and here the murderers, laughing, “rinsed” the Jew in the mud, like rinsing and twisting a washable rag.

After this, the crowd seemed satisfied and only smashed houses, but did not kill. Jews from nearby houses came out to see the unfortunate Nisenzon. He was still alive, woke up and asked for water. His arms and legs were broken... They pulled him out of the puddle, gave him water and began to wash him off the dirt. At this time, one of the thugs looked back and shouted to his friends. The Jews fled. Nisenzon was left alone. Then again the same man who killed Grinshpun and first wounded Berlatsky hit the unfortunate man on the head with a crowbar and ended his suffering...

Then the crowd continued to work further. The area was cluttered with fragments of furniture, scraps of all sorts of junk and broken frames to such an extent that it was very difficult to walk through it. One Jewish woman told me that she had to get to the other end, where her children remained; she had a baby in her arms, and she tried twice in vain to pass. Finally, a Christian acquaintance took the child from her, and only then did she somehow get through these chaotic barricades...

At five o'clock that day it became known that the "order", which the Jews had been waiting for with such hope since the first day, had finally been received...

In an hour or an hour and a half, calm reigned throughout the city. This did not require bloodshed or a shot. All that was needed was certainty.

And now it will take years to at least somewhat erase the vile memory of what happened, such a dirty and bloody stain that has fallen on the “conscience of the Chisinau Christians”...

And not only on the conscience of those who killed themselves, but also of those who incited this with misanthropy and vile lies, who looked and laughed, who find that it is not the murderers who are to blame, but the killed, who find that there can be indiscriminate irresponsibility and indiscriminate lack of rights...

I feel how little I give the reader in this note. But I still wanted to highlight at least one episode from that confused and impersonal chaos that is called “pogrom”, and at least with one specific example to show that it was “in kind.” To do this, I used the living impressions of eyewitnesses, conveyed partly to me personally, partly to my companion, who helped me reconstruct this picture feature by feature. True, this is based on the testimony of Jews, but there is no reason to doubt their reliability. The fact is undeniable: in house No. 13 they killed a crowd of defenseless people, they killed for a long time, in the middle of a crowded city, as if in a dark forest. The corpses are there... And then, does it matter to the Jews exactly how they were killed? Why do they need to invent details?..

Morality is clear to anyone in whom human feeling is alive... But in how many is it alive?..

This difficult question arises involuntarily when you see what I had to see in Chisinau.

Architectural solutions for a one-story house

Of course, modern houses are distinguished by their individuality and unique design. But many people think that they can only be realized with a multi-story building. We hasten to assure you of the opposite. Today, an excellent solution is to create an attic. The attic is an almost full second floor, which provides a considerable amount of usable space. It can be equipped at your own discretion. An attic is an excellent option for a separate room that will house an office, bedroom or living room with a beautiful fireplace. Considering that previously this area of a one-story house was allocated as an attic for storing construction waste, rubbish and garbage, most people did not even suspect that such an area could be used as a separate room.

In addition, an excellent option is to create a veranda or garage as an extension. House project The 12x13 house project will allow you to build a building that will have many rooms, distinguished by their spaciousness. We recommend that you consult with a specialist in the construction industry, because he will be the one who will be able to give advice on the possibility of implementing a 13 by 13 one-story house project in the conditions of your site.

On such days I arrived in Chisinau and, trying to explain to myself the terrible and mysterious drama that had played out here so recently, I wandered around the city, the suburbs, the streets and bazaars, talking about what had happened with Jews and Christians.

I, of course, have no pretension to explain here in any exhaustive manner this stunning episode, this amazing process of the rapid, almost sudden disappearance of all cultural inhibitions, from under which an almost prehistoric brutality suddenly bursts forth. There is nothing secret that would not become obvious. It is very possible that all the springs of this criminal case will someday come out and it will all become clear, like the mechanism of a disassembled watch. There is no doubt, however, that even then there will still be some remainder, which will be difficult to trace to certain circumstances of a given place and a given time. And this will be an eternally exciting question about how an ordinary, average, sometimes, perhaps, not bad person, with whom it is sometimes pleasant to do business in ordinary times, suddenly turns into a wild beast, into a whole crowd of wild animals.

It takes a lot of time and work, it takes a very broad, careful study to simply restore the picture in its entirety. I don’t have the opportunity for this, and perhaps the time has not yet come for this. I would like to think that the court will do this, although there is reason to fear that the court will not do this either... But I still want to share with the reader at least a pale reflection of this horror that smelled to me from my short stay in Chisinau, two months later after the pogrom. To do this, I will try to restore, as accurately and calmly as possible, one episode. This will be the story of the now famous house number 13 in Chisinau.

Selecting a ready-made project on the Internet

Of course, if your construction budget is limited and you do not have the financial opportunity to turn to a professional designer, then you should not take on the drawing yourself. Today there are a huge number of projects posted online that are distinguished by their diversity. Among them you can find structures of different heights, complexity, and area. Be sure that you will definitely like one of them. The undoubted advantage of this choice is that most of the presented drawings have already been successfully implemented. If you want, you can make some additional adjustments to the plans, for example, an attic or a garage as an extension.

“They killed Grishypun here...” said someone near us in a strange, dull voice.

When we entered this courtyard, everything here was dead and empty. Now a girl about 10-12 years old stood next to us. However, this seemed to be the case based on his height and figure. The expression on his face could have given much more, his eyes did not look like a child... This child saw everything that was happening here so recently. For her, this whole picture of destruction in the silent courtyard under the sultry rays of the sun was full of unforgettable horror. After that, she went to bed many times, woke up, got up, did everything she had done before, and, therefore, “calmed down.” But the horror that should have distorted this child’s face did not completely disappear. He left a permanent aftertaste in the form of an unchildish expression in his eyes and some kind of frozen convulsion in his face. Her voice seemed stifled, and her speech was difficult to listen to: the sounds of this speech came out with effort, like an automaton, and, standing next to her, mechanically formed words that did not give the impression of living speech.

“He was here... running...” she said, taking a deep breath, pointing with her hand towards the canopy and the pool of blood.

- Who is this? Glazier?” asked my companion.

- Yes... Glazier. He ran here... and he fell here... and then they killed him...

With an involuntary sensation of trembling, we moved away from this spot, in which blood was mixed with lime, dirt and fluff.

Everything in the house was destroyed with the same diligence as in the yard: wallpaper was torn off, doors were broken, stoves were broken, walls were broken through. This extreme thoroughness of wild destruction gave rise to a story in the city that before the pogrom, one of the semi-intelligent and rather influential “anti-Semites” prepared a whole batch of crowbars with hooks, distributed to the pogromists and then taken back by special “agents.”

I can’t say how much truth there is, but there is a lot of character in the rumor itself. Be that as it may, it is difficult to imagine that just recently an ordinary peaceful life flowed in the ruin we are looking at.

House No. 13 consisted of seven apartments, in which, as usual, eight Jewish families lived crowded and closely together, about 45 people in total (including children). Its owner was Movsha Maklin, a commission agent and owner of a modest shop in the city. At all his enterprises, that is, as a landlord, commission agent and shopkeeper, he received 1,500 rubles a year. Among the other inhabitants of the house, he, of course, had to be considered rich and lucky. He himself, however, did not live in house No. 13, but one of the apartments was occupied by his daughter with her husband and children.

One of the prominent residents was a small shopkeeper, Navtula Serebryannik. His shop was in the very corner. Now it can be recognized by the fragments of wooden chests that made up the counter and lying on the dirty floor among the torn walls.

Then another person lived in the house: Berlatsky, a haberdashery shop clerk, with his wife and four children. He earned 48 rubles. per month. Nisenzon, a man about 46 years old, was an accountant, that is, he set up accounting books and started financial statements. He performed this partly scientific profession on a piecework basis, earning 25-30 rubles a month. Movsha Paskar served as a clerk and received 35 rubles. He had a wife, Ita, and two children. Itsek Gervitz was a hospital servant, but lately he seemed to be in poverty, left without a place. Movsha Turkenits had a carpentry workshop in which he kept three workers, and Basya Barabash sold meat. Finally, the glazier Grinshpun went out every day with window panes and returned home in the evening with his earnings.

The figures are taken from the testimony of victims and their relatives. From them it is clear how rich people were in house No. 13. Meanwhile, the testimony given when declaring losses can be more likely to be suspected of exaggeration than of concealment...

This house lived peacefully and quietly until April 6th. Nisenzon walked around the shops and “set up accounting for them”, Berlatsky and Movsha Paskar sold goods in other people’s shops, Navtula Serebryannik sold candles, soap, matches, kerosene, cheap chintz and cheap candy to his neighbors - Jews, Moldovans and Russians, Itsek Gervits looked for places, and the glazier Grinshpun was putting in the broken glass... And no one had a premonition of what was about to happen.

On April 6, the first day of the greatest of Christian holidays, pogroms began in the city. News about them, of course, spread throughout Chisinau, and it is easy to imagine what hours the residents of building No. 13, closely packed with Jews, went through as they heard stories about what was happening in the city and how Orthodox society and the authorities felt about it. However, they said that this was happening because the governor was waiting for some kind of “order”. At night the order must come without fail, and that means everything will be calm in the morning.

By evening the riots died down on their own, and the night passed in fear, but without pogroms.

How to choose the right material for construction?

After you create a drawing of the structure, carry out all the calculations, and also select the most optimal site, it is important to decide which material will be used as the main one for construction work. Of course, one of the best options is timber. Wooden cottages, for the construction of which a 12x13 house design was used, is a trend in modern construction that is rapidly gaining popularity. This can be explained by the fact that wood is an absolutely safe material, which is distinguished by its durability and practicality. It must be said that such structures have a slight settlement, which must be taken into account at the time of construction and creation of the foundation. Brick houses are more reliable; such capital structures are gradually fading into the background, but they still occupy the majority of cottages among all suburban housing construction projects. About 10 years ago, lightweight metal structures began to appear on the building materials market, which today can be found at almost every step. Not only country houses are built from them, but also full-fledged multi-story high-rise buildings, as well as industrial facilities.

This material has many advantages, among which it is worth highlighting:

  • affordable price;
  • ease and simplicity of installation;
  • durability;
  • no need to create a reliable and permanent foundation;
  • wide variety of architectural solutions.

I arrived in Chisinau two months after the pogrom[*], but its echoes were still fresh and reverberated sharply throughout all of Russia. In Chisinau, the police took the strictest measures. But it was difficult to erase the traces of the pogrom: even on the main streets many broken doors and windows could still be seen. There were even more of these traces on the outskirts of the city...

The mood was tense, heavy... The newspapers brought the news that in St. Petersburg the Jew Dashevsky stabbed Mr. Krushevan and, what was even worse, another Jew, a doctor, wanted to give first aid to the wounded man. Mr. Krushevant refused help in horror and wrote that “Dashevsky’s soul belongs to him”; together with Mr. Komarov, he demanded the death penalty for Dashevsky on the grounds that he, Mr. Krushevan, was not an ordinary person, but a man of a state idea. And two or three days later, already during my stay in Chisinau, three unknown young men rushed at a Jewish youth coming from school, and one of them poked him in the side with a dagger; the dagger was aimed much more skillfully than Dashevsky’s, and only the book that the young Jew had under his buttoned jacket weakened the blow, but did not save him from the wound. The Jewish youth, peacefully walking from school, was, of course, not a “man of the state idea,” and therefore not only Mr. Komarov and Mr. Krushevan, but also the local newspaper wrote about the incident (at least during my entire stay) Bessarabian” did not say a single word, only the Jews reported this with very understandable anxiety.

They said, among other things, that this blow inflicted on the schoolboy was a response to Dashevsky’s assassination attempt. As absurd as it may be, it still seems true. However, “everything (now) looks like the truth,” anything can happen in Chisinau, where the very air is still saturated with wild enmity and hatred. The life of the city seemed to have quieted down. Construction has stopped: Jews are gripped by fear and uncertainty about the future.

Is it possible to build a house using a ready-made design yourself?

If you decide to independently engage in all construction work from “A” to “Z”, then first of all you need to be confident in your abilities and have at least some experience in this matter. You can get answers to most questions that arise during the process from sales consultants in construction stores, on thematic forums and, of course, on the Internet. Construction of a one-story house is something that even a beginner in the construction industry can handle due to the simplicity of the projects, as well as the lack of need to create inter-floor floors. In this article we looked at the advantages of a 12x13 house project, as well as the main features of their construction; we hope that this material will be useful for you!
