*Review of the best according to the editors of expertology.ru. About the selection criteria. This material is subjective in nature, does not constitute advertising and does not serve as a purchase guide. Before purchasing, consultation with a specialist is required.

Parquet boards are a unique combination of the naturalness of solid wood and the convenience of laminate. Many well-known flooring manufacturers produce this type of parquet. Users love the natural beauty of wood, the strength and durability of the coating. What is the uniqueness of this finishing material and how not to make a mistake in choosing?

No. 1. What is a parquet board made of?

To better understand the basic properties of a material and make wise choices, you need to know the structure of the material . The parquet board consists of three layers:

  • The top layer is veneer of valuable wood species. Oak, walnut, cherry, teak, as well as exotic species such as merbau, wenge and others can be used. The front layer is additionally coated with varnish or oil;
  • the middle layer is lamellas made of coniferous wood, less often HDF boards. The wood grains of this layer are perpendicular to the wood grains of the face layer, providing stability to the board. Here the locking connection is cut out;
  • The bottom layer is spruce wood, about 2 mm thick, which serves to give rigidity to the entire structure and to resist bending of the board.

The total thickness depends on the thickness of all layers, but the quality directly depends on the thickness of the outer layer . The thicker it is, the more grinding the board can withstand, which means the higher its durability.

The best manufacturers of parquet boards in terms of price-quality ratio

Many world leaders in the field of parquet production sell floor coverings at an affordable price. Cost reduction was achieved through the opening of production sites in Russia. Experts have identified several brands that offer high-quality and inexpensive products.

Scheucher

Rating: 4.9

Scheucher offers Russian homeowners high-quality flooring with sophisticated style. The manufacturer of parquet boards managed to become a winner in our rating due to a wide range of decorative finishes (about 500 options), innovative 5G locks, and a record-breaking warranty (30 years). Experts pay attention to the uniquely clean surface treatment. Whatever texture the buyer chooses, he can be sure of the ideal quality of the board. And there is plenty to choose from; there are collections of classic style, as well as completely unexpected designs (reptile, deep brushing, etc.).

Users have a wide choice of wood, from iroko to American walnut.

Advantages

  • wide variety of boards;
  • innovative lock;
  • advanced processing technologies;
  • 30 year warranty.

Flaws

  • not detected.

No. 2. Which board is better: single-strip or multi-strip?

Based on the number of dies used to create the top layer, parquet boards are divided into the following types:

  • single-strip, or Full Plank. The finishing layer of natural wood is a single piece and is not divided into separate parts. This is the most expensive and most attractive type of parquet board, because the unique structure of the wood is best visible here. Some manufacturers make single-strip boards with chamfers at the corners. In this case, the material completely imitates a solid board;
  • two-strip board consists of two rows of lamellas, which are carefully selected according to color and pattern. The slats can be divided into several segments or be solid, and the choice in this case depends on your own preferences. In any case, the structure of the tree will be very well expressed;

  • A three-strip board consists of three rows of lamellas offset from each other. The most common type of parquet board that fits perfectly into any room;
  • four-strip board , as its name implies, consists of four rows of individual slats;
  • multi-strip board appeared not so long ago; it is a pattern of small planks. The result is a coating with high decorative qualities, moderately variegated and well conveying all the shades of natural wood. It will fit perfectly into an interior that is not overloaded with details, since such a board can itself become its highlight.

Species and selection

The purpose of selection is to carry out a high-quality selection of lamellas for the finishing layer of parquet boards that meet standard criteria: uniformity of material, color, texture, absence or presence of knots and sapwood. The result of the selection process is responsible for the aesthetic appearance of the finished product and its cost.

The types of selection of this material are as follows:

  • Select (elite, radial, exquisit, luxury). The finishing layer of this type demonstrates high-quality processed lamellas with pronounced structural and color uniformity; knots and defects are strictly unacceptable; the pattern is characterized by evenness and static tone.
  • Natural (standard). The characteristics of the surface of this type are weakly expressed color diversity and the presence of knots; the material for it is wood of mixed vertical and horizontal cuts.
  • Rustic (markant, cottage, country, rustic board). It is distinguished by frequent cracks, pits from knots, variegation and sapwood.

No. 3. What size parquet board is needed?

One of the most important parameters, naturally, is thickness . It can range from 7 to 26 mm . It is not recommended to choose a parquet board thinner than 13 mm , because the decorative layer in such material is no more than 2.5 mm, so sanding is excluded. In addition, such a board is not rigid enough, which ultimately leads to low durability. Roughly speaking, such a board can be called disposable, and it is intended for cheap temporary repairs until it is replaced by a better and more durable option.

A good choice for residential premises is parquet boards with a thickness of 14 mm or more . In this case, the thickness of the decorative layer is approximately 4 mm, which means that the material can be scraped several times, returning it to its ideal appearance. or more is ideal for public spaces By the way, thick parquet boards are often laid not on a concrete base, but on floor joists, which is important for old houses. Remember that the thicker the board, the warmer and quieter the room will be, not to mention practical and durable.

The length of the parquet board is usually 2-2.5 meters . The longer the material, the better the energy of the step is absorbed, and the less likely it is that over time the board will begin to creak. It is not recommended to choose a parquet board with a length of less than 1.8 m , especially if it is three-strip. It will not look very good, since it will not be possible to completely imitate piece parquet, and over time the seams may come apart. Large manufacturers do not sell such material, but some domestic companies offer such a board. You can even find a board about 1 m long; these are, rather, sawed off and rejected parts, but they also find use on budget construction projects. Width from 10 to 20 cm, the choice depends on your own preferences.

No. 4. What is the selection of planks and which one is better to choose?

Even wood of the same species can differ significantly in appearance, so to achieve the best appearance, planks are selected . The selection is based on such parameters as:

  • cutting method;
  • fiber inclination;
  • color;
  • presence, size of knots and other defects.

There are the following main methods of cutting wood:

  • radial _ The cut is carried out along the central axis of the tree, and with this method the fibers are located along the surface of the die. This method allows you to obtain the most uniform color and pattern, and the highest performance qualities. On the other hand, such a cut produces a large amount of rejection, which explains the high price;
  • tangential _ This cut is carried out tangentially to the tree trunk, so the pattern of annual rings is clearly visible. This option will be cheaper, but some people like the look even more than the radial cut that is considered ideal;
  • rustic. It can be executed in any direction, so the pattern of the board is non-uniform. Looks good in certain types of interior.

Taking into account the type of cut, uniformity of shade and pattern, the parquet boards are selected. Main types of selection :

  • radial-select. The layer of wood in this case has the most even texture and is free of knots and other defects. Such a cut is rarely used for the manufacture of parquet boards, since its surface is too boring and monotonous. The main area of application is the geometric method of laying panel parquet;
  • select. This selection includes only radial cut planks with a uniform color and beautiful wood grain, without knots or defects. It is used in the design of classic interiors and has good wear resistance;

  • nature _ This selection includes boards with radial and tangential cuts; the presence of knots with a diameter of up to 2 mm, veins and heart-shaped rays is allowed. This parquet has a beautiful and pronounced wood structure; there may be differences in color by several tones, which adds zest to the interior;
  • rustic _ In this case, selection is carried out not by the cut, but by the appearance of the wood. The main requirement is bright, vibrant color, and knots and sapwood are even welcome. This parquet turns out to be very beautiful, but some people find it motley. Great for country style;
  • economy _ This includes wood of different types of cuts, which can differ noticeably in color and pattern, have knots and veins, and may even have cracks.

Barlinek parquet board – after a year of use

While my partner and I were laying Barlinek parquet boards in the room, I walked along the corridor with my smartphone and filmed a short video.

  • The laid parquet flooring in the hallway creaked—this was due to the heating season, which dried out the wood.
  • In the area of the bathroom, next to the cat litter, large gaps with a dark color appeared between the slats. It can be seen that the floors were washed there.

I must say that over the past year these people have not completed their renovations and have done them step by step – it shows. The Barlinek laid last year in the second room was full of chips in places.

No. 5. What type of wood to choose

Although only the top layer of a parquet board is natural wood, the performance qualities of the material largely depend on it. On sale you can find parquet boards using wood from both local and exotic species. The following options are in greatest demand:

  • oak _ A leader in hardness, wear resistance and durability, such parquet will not dry out, and when humidity changes, it will not change its linear dimensions much;
  • beech _ It has a pleasant light color and refined texture, but is inferior to many other types of wood in terms of hardness and stability;
  • nut _ Dense hard wood of beautiful color with a pronounced structure. Tolerates changes in humidity well and is easy to care for;
  • ash _ In many performance qualities it resembles oak, but differs in a lighter shade;
  • maple _ Durable and stable wood of light color;
  • cherry. It has a rare pinkish tint that can add zest to the interior.

Barlinek parquet board: oak, ash, spruce. You can purchase it in branded stores, as well as from partners in most regions of the Russian Federation. The Barlinek Group is a major manufacturer of multi-layer wood flooring. Production volume is more than 11 million m² per year.

Today, the demand for parquet boards with a top layer of exotic tree species is growing:

  • wenge _ The wood has a very dark, almost black tint and a beautiful, pronounced pattern. Due to its unique structure, it perfectly resists loads, impacts and bends, so it will serve for a very long time. The only negative is the high price due to its rarity;
  • merbau _ The wood is brown with golden veins. Thanks to natural oils, it is not affected by mold. Due to record hardness, it behaves very well in operation;
  • Jatoba . It has strong and hard wood, it is difficult to process, but as a result you can achieve a mirror surface. The tree is unique in that sections of the trunk without knots reach 23 m;
  • kempas. The wood has a golden-orange hue, the highest hardness and density. It is almost impossible to scratch, but significant changes in humidity can negatively affect it.

The two bottom layers are made from cheaper wood species. Coniferous species are often used for these purposes , incl. pine and spruce. Sometimes you can find parquet boards where the load-bearing layers are made of hevea .
This tree is distinguished by the presence of a large amount of resins, due to which it has excellent moisture resistance and resistance to deformation.

Laminate Tarkett - reviews

Polina

I would like to share my impressions of using Tarkett laminate. When you work in the field of education (kindergarten), you are constantly faced with the need to be interested in building materials and their prices, but quality does not always come to the fore, because the notorious budget dictates its own rules. One of the items for the new year was to change the flooring in the assembly hall. Money was collected from the world piece by piece: what was allocated by the education department, and from parental donations. The amount was not so great. I had to choose the best option both in terms of price and quality.

I dared to take responsibility by ordering Tarkett 32 class (I first looked through a lot of reviews on the Internet). The seller convinced me that even for floors with such traffic as in the assembly hall, this manufacturer will easily withstand such a load. And the price added even more arguments.

As a result, by March 8, the boys were singing songs and dancing their dances on the chic laminated floor in the Woodstock tone of Larian Beige Oak. Tarkett 32 class destroyed all our fears: inexpensive, practical, strong, reliable.

We spent a long time choosing a cover for the nursery and settled on Tarkett Robinson. Five years later, we can say for sure that it was the right choice. In the nursery, the floors were washed every day for the first three years, then a couple of times a week. The laminate joints are still like new. Nothing happened to him. Heavy objects have been dropped more than once, no dents were left. I think we will replace the flooring no sooner than in 5-10 years.

I've been laying laminate flooring professionally for several years now. I have worked with many brands and understand quality. About Tarkett I can say that this laminate is of the highest quality from the brands that I have been able to work with. And it is the easiest to install; fitting and joining are always without problems. The double lock can withstand hundreds of kilograms even after five years of operation. I only recommend Tarkett for styling, all clients are very satisfied.

We chose Tarkett laminate from different collections for the new apartment: in the children's room Fiesta Collente class 32, and in the rest of the apartment Woodstock Premium Sherwood North. For a very long time, my husband and I could not agree on the color of the floor, and only in the Tarkett collection did we find a compromise. So far we have only the most pleasant feelings from purchasing this laminate. My husband laid him down himself and there were no difficulties. Pleasant textured pattern, waxed locks, increased strength. It can even be laid on a warm floor, but not every manufacturer can offer this.

I like Tarket for its accessibility: availability in stores, availability of samples and price. Large palette of colors. I have three types of laminate in my apartment, and all of them are Tarket. The repairmen advised me to glue it so that there would be no dull sound when walking. We agreed and did not regret it. The laminate is very durable, the child constantly throws something on it, but it does not deteriorate. Nothing gets caught in the seams. Has been in use for 5 years and looks great. The fact that dark laminate gathers dust is always the case... both furniture and tiles... everything dark quickly gathers dust.

Advantages:

  • Tech3S technology - moisture protection
  • washes well

Flaws:

  • Leaves marks from bare feet

Details

A year ago we renovated the apartment. We decided to update the floors. It took a long time to decide which was better: carpet or laminate. Finally we decided on Tarkett fiesta 832 oak suave laminate class 32. We wanted to take class 33, but the seller convinced us that class 32 was enough for a living space. The substrate was used as a vapor barrier. My husband and I laid the laminate flooring together. It fits well and the locks also click effortlessly. The hall was completed in 4 hours. A year has passed so far no problems, no swelling anywhere, no locks coming apart. I read a lot of reviews that the seams bulge and lie unevenly. All this is nonsense. If there is a normal screed, a vapor barrier substrate, and gaps are left between the wall and the edge of the laminate, then nothing will swell. I am personally pleased with the TARKET laminate.

Reliability and quality!

Just yesterday I installed laminate flooring from Tarkett in my apartment. I settled on 8 mm laminate, from the Woodstock 832 series, Sherwood Mocha oak, strength class 32, I chose it for the corridor, I wanted something more durable. I am 100% satisfied with the result. What pleased me was that there was a really huge selection of laminate designs and a good choice of colors. In terms of price, Tarkett laminate is quite inexpensive, it will come out like linoleum, but in quality and service life it will far exceed it. As for laying the laminate, it’s easy to do, this brand has very good locks, I inserted them without any visible problems.

The only negative that I learned is that under no circumstances should you install a heated floor under the laminate, since the seams can dry out due to constant heating. But this is a minus only for the entire floor covering, and not for a specific brand.

Pros:

  • Big choice.

Minuses:

  • This particular model does not.

There was a fire. The apartment was practically burned down. At first they stayed with relatives. But I, as the boss, said that this would not do. So I started thinking about renovations. I decided to do without any big frills. I didn’t want to rebuild the mansions - that’s not the situation. The whole family carefully selected building materials. Have you been wondering what to do with a burnt-out floor? I didn't want to use a banal laminate. There were many disputes that turned into conflict. We decided to go with Tarkett laminate. No regrets. Easy to install, durable, stable. And when walking, there are no terrible creaking sounds. It looks simply amazing! And how many colors does it come in? Now we live in a renovated home, which we are incredibly happy with. But my family will be more careful with fire. I'll take care of it.

As for installation, it is not at all difficult to do it yourself, and a video clip presented by the Tarkett company itself helped me with this; although it is in English, after watching, all the points become as clear as possible.

Pros:

  • easy to find
  • a large assortment
  • Installs without using glue (which I was happy about).

Minuses:

  • Price. I was unpleasantly surprised by her. But I had to spend money.

In March I installed Tarkett Woodstock 32 8 mm Oak Sherwood Suede. The masters also recommended Klassen, Egger, Quick Step - all from Germany/Belgium. Their criteria are locks and geometry. But I chose the German Tarkett because of the optimal price and the design I liked (classic bleached oak, suitable for furniture and a new sofa). The installers came, dropped the level using the three-meter rule and refused to lay the laminate without redoing the screed. Moreover, before this, there was also laminate on the floor from the previous owner of the apartment (he installed it in 2001), which creaked and came apart in some places. Looking at the condition of the old laminate, I of course agreed to the screed. The work took two days: the first - removing the furniture, dismantling the old laminate, leveling the screed with a quick-drying self-leveler; the second is sanding level smudges, film, substrate (3mm Fix Prix), laying the floor itself, baseboard. The three of us worked like animals. It fits EXCELLENTLY, does not stick together, all joints are like new. Buy GERMAN materials! And don’t believe that Russian factories produce German quality. People work there (technologists, operators, adjusters, controllers) with a mentality DIFFERENT from the German one. So the result is a different laminate, but the price is almost the same, at least here in Belarus. PEACE, goodness and good luck to everyone in your repair work! ...

Flaws:

  • There is not

Hello, I want to tell you about laminate flooring. We were renovating the bedroom. We decided to lay laminate flooring. The choice of flooring is huge, but there is not so much quality laminate. And the seller recommended this company to us. We were pleased.

Laminate flooring from this company, with proper care, will last a long time. What surprised me greatly was that the laminate coating does not scratch, this is a big plus when there are small children or cats and dogs in the house. As for laying laminate flooring, you don’t need to be a pro, since the grooves fit into each other clearly, quickly, and effortlessly. You can lay a “warm floor” under such a laminate. And one more thing I want to say (maybe not everyone will believe it), but the laminate has withstood direct contact with water (our neighbors flooded us). There was water in the room, but the laminate did not swell or deform. I recommend this laminate as a reliable and high-quality product.

I don’t know who it is, but I chose laminate from Tarkett. I was convinced that the costs were worth the wait. Laminate is not cheap, but the quality is excellent. Since I was laying the canvases in the living room, I chose the most durable one, 33 strength classes. Although I didn’t understand any particular differences between the 32nd class. Ease of installation is top notch. The backing that I used is very thin, this is what they recommended. The locks adhere tightly and do not allow a drop of liquid to pass through. To be more confident in the locks, I kept them in drying oil for 1 hour. Now I understand that, in principle, this is reinsurance; they have already been processed well. The laminate has been in place for 4 years, no complaints. It doesn't squeak, crack or wear out. The board deserves respect. If I have to change the coating somewhere, I will definitely choose a product from Tarkett.

We were renovating the living room. We decided to lay laminate flooring. Our choice was the Tarkett laminate. It's been six months since we've been living with this laminate. Very pleased. Firstly, it’s easy enough to lay it on the floor - my husband did it himself. Secondly, it looks very impressive. Thirdly, we were afraid that it was hydrophobic, but our fears were in vain: no matter how many feasts took place in our living room, how much juice, water and other drinks were accidentally spilled on the floor, the laminate remains as good as new. Even if you don’t immediately notice the puddle and wipe the floor after a couple or three hours, nothing happens to the laminate. And yes, we moved furniture on the floor, the laminate was not scratched.

No. 6. Is special treatment required?

Wood can be exposed to high temperatures (up to 1950C) so that it acquires new valuable performance qualities. Heat-treated wood becomes more stable, less susceptible to swelling and drying out, and scratches on it remain almost invisible. Due to similar temperature effects, some types of wood (beech, ash, birch) can become sensitive to sunlight and gradually fade under their influence.

Oak wood can often be brushed . Tree rings formed in the spring are less durable than those formed in winter or autumn. Brushing involves removing softer wood fibers using hard brushes. The result is a more durable and voluminous surface.

Should I buy Barlinek parquet boards or not – the expert’s opinion

What I like about Barlinek parquet boards is the price. You can't find anything close to this price, especially if there are discounts. The closest position is Polarwood from 1500 rubles per m2. The fact that squeaking occurs during operation is something that can happen not only with boards of this brand.

It is more difficult to lay planks yourself, especially when laying floating floors for the first time. If you don’t understand the installation process and are afraid of breaking something, you won’t be able to lay parquet with your own hands. Because installation requires significantly greater physical effort than is shown in the instructions and training films.

When installing Barlinek yourself, it is better to hire an assistant. Together, the chance of collecting will increase.

You can prevent possible squeaking by using a wax sealant. You can read more here.

I would probably buy myself a Barlinek parquet board, given that alternative brands cost 400 rubles or more. If you invite craftsmen for installation, be prepared to overpay 50-100 rubles per meter above the standard price. If the price quoted for installation was low, I would doubt the experience of this person. It will most likely ruin your coating during installation.

No. 7. Which coating should you choose?

A huge advantage of parquet boards is that they are covered with a protective layer by the manufacturer, and there is no need to waste time and money on self-processing. The material can be coated with varnish or oil . Often light boards are varnished and dark boards are oiled, but there may be exceptions. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages of varnish coating:

  • greater wear resistance than when coated with oil. Under normal operating conditions, such a parquet board will need to be restored every 6-10 years, and an oil-coated analogue - every 4-5 years;
  • If you want to change the appearance of the floor, you can remove the varnish and treat the parquet board with oil. The reverse process is not possible;
  • you can get a glossy finish using special varnish compounds;
  • The cost of varnish coating is less than oil coating.

Benefits of oil coating:

  • more natural appearance, such a board is more pleasant to the touch;
  • better suited for underfloor heating systems;
  • tolerates changes in humidity and temperature better than varnish;
  • ease of restoration. A damaged board coated with oil can be repaired locally, which is not possible when using a varnish coating;
  • longer service life of the material;
  • With an oil protective coating, the parquet board “breathes” better.

    Today, many large manufacturers produce products with locks of their own design, which have unique properties. In fact, each of them is an improved version of one of the two main types of locks - Lock and Click . In any case, the connection occurs due to the presence of a tongue and groove on the boards, but their shape and the presence of additional elements become the difference.

    Lock type locks , or straight locks, the tongue and groove are located parallel to the board itself. The groove has a special comb, when the tenon hits it, it is tightly fixed. Installing such parquet boards is like putting together a puzzle. The element with the tenon is pressed tightly against the board with the groove and hammered in using a mallet. At the same time, there is a high probability of damaging the locking system, so it is better to entrust the installation of such parquet boards to experienced specialists. However, even high-quality installation will not protect you from the fact that the comb will begin to wear out over time, weakening the connection and causing cracks to appear. Sometimes glue is used when installing such a board, but you need to work with it carefully.

    Click type locks , or twist locks, are more modern and practical. Due to the features of the lock, the installation process is simplified and the strength of the connection increases. During installation, a board with a protrusion is applied to an already installed board with a groove at an angle of 450, and then lowered until a characteristic click is heard. It is difficult to spoil such a lock, and in the future you can disassemble and reassemble the floor several times.

    Large manufacturers offer their own developments based on Click ; the most interesting, convenient and practical are the following:

    • Uniclic from Quick-Step. The design of the lock allows the installation of boards, placing them at an angle or without it, as if pushing one board into another. No additional tools are needed, and you can choose the most convenient installation angle for yourself; the result will be equally excellent in any case. Such locks are located at all ends of the board, and the floor ultimately looks seamless. Gaps will not form, since there is no room for displacement. The manufacturer provides a lifetime warranty for this locking system;

    • T-Lock (Tarkett Lock) from TARKETT also belongs to the Click type locks, despite the name. It is considered one of the most progressive and practical today. The lock is distinguished by its increased width; its elements are connected at a slight angle with a characteristic click. The ability to install elements at a slight angle is convenient especially when you have to work in hard-to-reach places.

    What to look for when choosing a parquet board

    When you choose a parquet board, it is not enough to choose it with your eyes; you need to take into account two factors: the characteristics of the room in which you want to lay the floor and the characteristics of the wood from which the particular board you have chosen is made. If you choose a board made of a material that is not resistant to moisture for your kitchen, is it worth making an expensive purchase that will soon have to be made again?

    You also need to pay attention to the coating. If the board is uncoated, according to statistics, this is the type of board that is bought more often, since it is much cheaper, then keep in mind that you will not be able to profit, because you will have to coat it yourself or it will quickly become unusable. Wood is a capricious material. You should also choose varnish or oil depending on whether suitability for underfloor heating is important to you or not, in what room, and the level of environmental friendliness? In the case of parquet boards, it is better to spend money once and take care of it than to save money once and constantly spend a lot on repairs.

    The company's parquet product range

    Parquet flooring is becoming less and less popular due to the emergence of more practical and convenient analogues. Parquet board is a multilayer product that has many advantages:

    • This building material is made from natural wood
    • The protective varnish coating ensures resistance to normal loads and allows the floor to be used immediately after installation.
    • The locking connection, which is made in the middle of the product, allows you to easily lay down the covering and assemble it if necessary.
    • The store offers a wide range of parquet board colors from various reputable manufacturers
    • Favorable cost of production
