A practical and economical option for heating large and small rooms in the absence of centralized heating is a gas heat gun. Its use is justified by its high energy efficiency and low cost of gas as fuel. Heat guns are produced by both domestic and foreign manufacturers, and the various characteristics of heating equipment allow you to choose a model for individual tasks. In this article, experts from the Sadpom online store will tell you how to choose a gas heat gun and recommend the best models for your home, garage, cottage, or warehouse.
Criterion No. 1: type of heating
Gas-powered heaters belong to one of two groups according to the type of heating. Indirect heating heat guns are designed to create an optimal temperature microclimate in residential buildings or rooms where people are temporarily located. In models of this type, the heat exchanger is designed in such a way that fuel is burned in it first, and then combustion products, which are highly toxic. For proper operation of an indirect heating heater, a separate exhaust pipe is not required - properly functioning ventilation is sufficient.
The direct heating heat gun differs from the first model in the principle of fuel combustion. Toxic waste is not completely destroyed in it, so natural ventilation is not enough here. To effectively remove combustion products, an exhaust pipe is provided, which is connected to a stationary chimney.
Important! The main advantage of indirect heating heat guns is their high level of efficiency, tending to 100%.

Criterion No. 2: equipment power
The consumption of fuel, electricity and the rate of space heating will directly depend on such a key parameter as the power of the installation. To choose the right gas heat gun for a garage, private home or warehouse, you need to assess the area of the room that needs to be heated. Obviously, low-power gas guns cannot cope with heating large rooms. And vice versa - owners of small rooms do not need to overpay for a powerful premium unit. When calculating power, Garden Assistant experts recommend focusing on the following principle: for every 10 m2 of space, from 0.8 to 1.4 kW of a heating device is required.

Popular manufacturers
In the 90s, the main leaders of the Russian market in the production of heat guns were Western Europe and Asia. In the 2000s, Russian companies began to appear that produce climate control equipment. Now there are a huge number of domestic brands that confidently compete with their foreign colleagues, while remaining in the low price segment. Here is an overview of several leaders in the production of climate control equipment:
- Resanta , a Swiss brand founded in 1932, remains a leader in the production of heaters in 2021.
- Ballu is a leading Thai manufacturer of air conditioning equipment for the home and industry, opened in 1980, which covers the whole of Eurasia and is known even in North America. The products are applicable for garages, cottages, and industrial premises.
- Frico is a European company that produces products that undergo strict AMCA and ISO quality certification.
- Master is a manufacturer of air treatment systems for both large and small areas. The master offers a wide range of heat guns.
- Kraton is a Russian brand that has the best price-quality ratio, as it offers budget equipment that meets all European quality standards.
- Zubr is another Russian manufacturer of construction tools and equipment that has its own laboratory for pre-sale testing of products.
- Interskol is the only brand in the CIS in its niche that is officially recognized by the EU.
- Sibrtech is a Russian trademark that takes into account local operating conditions during production. The products are famous for their high strength and reliability.
IMPORTANT ! Also worthy of attention are companies such as Caliber, Big Dutchman, Wester and Remington.
Parameter No. 3: fuel consumption
Although liquefied gas and propane-butane are considered budget fuels, some models of gas guns consume an unreasonably large amount of energy even with little “exhaust”. In order for heating equipment to justify the investment in it, pay attention to such a parameter as fuel consumption. It will directly depend on the power of the heater, but even among powerful models you can choose economical options with minimal gas consumption.
Important! Gas heat guns can operate effectively on both bottled liquefied and natural gas from the central pipeline.

Purpose of gas heat guns
It is important to understand the purpose of gas heat guns, since natural or liquefied gas is used as fuel, which is not suitable for every homeowner or entrepreneur. Here are three areas of application of such equipment:
- Heating of industrial premises - in this area, these units are very popular, as they demonstrate high efficiency and cover a large heating area.
- Preventing humidity in warehouses or workshops - gas heat guns also perform well in this case.
- Construction work and repairs - this area includes both commercial activities and the everyday needs of ordinary people.
REFERENCE . Compact dimensions and convenient shape are the unconditional advantages of the device.
Other criteria influencing the choice
In addition to the technical parameters described above, before purchasing a gas gun, it is recommended to evaluate other criteria that will affect ease of use. These include:
- Noise level is an important factor when a heater is purchased for residential premises. The noise level acceptable for human perception should not exceed 35-40 dB. Otherwise, being in a building with a very loud fan will be uncomfortable.
- Security system - a durable metal body, a thermostat, a flame controller and a self-shutdown option will allow you not to worry about a possible fire even when the gas gun is unattended.
- Type of design - if the unit is purchased for buildings where centralized heating is not planned, then you should opt for a stationary model. A mobile heater is good as an alternative source of heat - it is easy to move and install in any convenient place, directing air flow in the desired direction.
- Ignition system - the manual ignition method is not always convenient, but is characterized by increased reliability. Piezo ignition is considered a more “advanced” mechanism - a spark is generated by simply pressing. But in some cases, the piezo may not work the first time, and high humidity can damage the element.
- Temperature control and thermostat - allow you to maintain a constant temperature in a heated location and adjust the operation of the device to individual needs, changing the values depending on weather conditions.
Analyzing the models and designs of gas heat guns, we can come to the conclusion that when choosing a suitable installation, you should focus on parameters such as type of heating (direct/indirect), fuel consumption and thermal power.
Consider the area of the heated room, pay attention to additional options that will make the process of using the devices comfortable and as safe as possible. Return to list of articles
How to connect and use a gas heat gun
First of all, it would be useful to study the instructions, as it contains all the nuances of connection and use. It is recommended to carry out assembly based on the manufacturer's instructions in the instructions. Here are a few situations in which it is prohibited to turn on a gas heat gun:
- when there is a concentration of large amounts of dust in the air;
- in the presence of explosive vapors;
- when the outlet is blocked by any obstacle.
When turning it on, it is first important to check the ventilation of the room and the presence of oxygen in it. Next, you need to check the tightness of the connection with the gas cylinder, for example, you can use a soap solution. Ignition occurs in strict sequence. First of all, the main switch must be pressed, which will cause the engine and fan to start. Next, you need to press and hold the gas valve button and press the ignition button several times. When a fire starts, the button must be held for another 15–20 seconds, and then gradually released.

How to combine two cylinders into HBO? Implementation options
- The first method is to install two separate cylinders with their own air pumps. This option is less convenient, but easier to implement. Two cylinders are installed, which are connected through a tee to the central line leading to the reducer. Before inserting into the central highway, you can install one solenoid valve, although many argue that one is enough.
- The second option is to install two gas tanks with one VSU. This option is more convenient, since gas cylinders will be refilled through one device. The connection to the VSU is made through a tee, while some installers remove one multi-valve so that the second tank is filled more fully and acts as an additional tank, while the two tanks are perceived by the system as one. But I would not recommend taking risks by removing the second multivalve; this smart and multifunctional unit is very important.
There are other options, but, in my opinion, these two are the most optimal. The only thing you should remember is that the installation of gas equipment, as well as cylinders in particular, should be done by a professional. Any, at first glance, little things can lead to dire consequences or at least to incorrect operation of the gas equipment. Remember this!
If you know of other options for installing two cylinders in the HBO system, tell us about them in the comments, I will be very grateful.
Bye everyone, thank you for your attention, and see you again at HBOshnik.

Author: Sportsist (—.74.pppoe.mari-el.ru) Date: 13-11-15 02:42 The question is that the standard gearbox of the gun has a thread, but the cylinder on the farm was found not with a thread, but with a valve. The cylinder reducer of the RDSG type produces very little pressure - the gun does not even light up. Maybe throw all the guts out of it? Or is it not possible to connect this way? The valve cylinder is more convenient to use - when several times a day you need to separate the gun and the cylinder. |

Maybe throw all the guts out of it? “”””” I would not recommend doing this, without a gearbox - it’s equivalent to doing it directly, go out into the countryside and try it, you’ll see. what will come of this, but seriously, it’s easier to buy a new gearbox without a valve than to look for adventures, I have a 10 kW gun - five years like clockwork. |
Author: Sportsist (—.74.pppoe.mari-el.ru) Date: 13-11-15 03:27 can you imagine a valve cylinder? NOT threaded?? There is only one type of gearbox for it |
Author: s494 (89.179.209.—) Date: 13-11-15 03:57 Isn’t it possible to unscrew the valve and screw in the threaded tap? True... I had an old cylinder with a diaphragm valve, I decided to change the valve, I couldn’t unscrew it myself, I gave it to a friend, at the enterprise he clamped the valve in a vice and turned it by the cylinder... he tied the lever to it. Changed it - and that's it. So you need to transfer the valve to the tap. |
Author: Sportsist (—.74.pppoe.mari-el.ru) Date: 11/13/15 04:17 and today 100% of all cylinders are made in a known place (((and mine from a scoop is completely new, I haven’t smelled gas ... |

This is exactly how the neighbor in the dacha died. Antonina Fedorovna was then about 80 years old. She was badly burned. And she died in the hospital. In addition, the valve-mounted gearbox is non-separable. I mean, assembled on a rolled hoop. Maybe it would be easier to turn the cylinder valves to “normal”? It's not as difficult as it seems. |
Author: Sportsist (—.74.pppoe.mari-el.ru) Date: 13-11-15 05:28 you will laugh - but “mother”, i.e. The gearbox is also new and made from a scoop. I just filled the 27L cylinder all the way, and then it turned out that the gun didn’t burn with it. What should we do now with the gas inside it??? |

Author: fedot68(Kaluga) (—.opera-mini.net) Date: 13-11-15 06:08 By the way. “during it” (“late perestroika”), kits for weeding pigs and other things were sold in hardware stores: A nozzle instead of a reducer for the valve of such a cylinder, a hose for it and the burner itself. I even had one :-)) The principle of the device is simple Instead of three clamp balls, there are three screws. The “receiving mouth” itself, obviously with a “pressure” and a seal “in a circle”, but the pusher immediately pressed, or moved out synchronously with the twisting of the central valve (opening the gas) - for the life of me, I don’t remember Still, changing the valve is faster, safer and more reliable. Even taking into account the killed toad due to the release of 25 liters of gas. |
Author: Slavyanin (—.broadband.corbina.ru) Date: 11/13/15 06:14 My neighbor unscrewed the tap on a small cylinder, put a pipe on a 1.5 meter key and unscrewed it, the thread there is tricky, with a cone. |
Author: deniss P80-48AA (—.84.f.pppoe.atknet.ru) Date: 13-11-15 17:34 Kvasnik how to connect, for example, a Soviet 5L cylinder, you take a regular “reducer” like this with a reversible flag on the “top” and from it there is a hose to this burner heater and everything is the same with a 50l cylinder, naturally there is the same as a stove through a reducer, minus probably one is not there, turn down the gas, so it’s better to look for a reducer with a valve at the outlet so that the gas at the burner is turned down, and so when Dad was looking for a frog with adjustment; they were on sale only for the cylinder-frog threaded connection, so he took a 5L cylinder to the gas trucks so that they could replace the cylinder valve with a valve. |

Author: Sportsist (—.74.pppoe.mari-el.ru) Date: 11/14/15 02:33 people, I wonder HOW can you detect the inoperability of a gun with this cylinder and gearbox without refilling the cylinder??? I refueled it, tried it, it doesn’t light up. As for venting, it seems to me that this is more dangerous than using this gearbox. |
Author: s494 (89.179.209.—) Date: 14-11-15 07:13 It was necessary to fill five liters. I think the gun won’t work with such a gearbox, there won’t be enough pressure. Once again: for a gun the pressure should be 1.5 bar. Link. Your reducer has an output pressure of 0.0036 MPa. Link. 0.0036 MPa is 0.036 bar Link. And you need 1.5 bar!!!! |
Author: s494 (89.179.209.—) Date: 14-11-15 07:23
Well, the gun will not work with such pressure. |
Author: s494 (89.179.209.—) Date: 14-11-15 07:41 This is the kind of gearbox you need. BPO Link. But even then not everyone. Here's the link. it is 0.3 MPa = 3 bar = 3 kg cm2 But this one is on the verge of working at all, Link. it is 0.13 MPa = 1.3 bar = 1.3 kg cm2 Look at the performance characteristics of your gun, how much operating pressure there is. And select a reducer based on this pressure. And bleed the gas from the cylinder through a reducer from a hose somewhere on the mountain in the breeze: gas-propane goes down and change the tap. Or buy another cylinder with a normal tap. |
Author: Sergeich Nagatinsky (213.87.145.—) Date: 14-11-15 07:54 Guys, let's put an end to all this. 1. The gun operates from 1.5 bar; household gearboxes for gas stoves will NEVER allow it to work. 2. The collective farm when working with gas is terrible idiocy. 3. For the vehicle, a number of tips: - use the cylinder with the old nipple outside (do not place it indoors!!!!!) on a gas stove, etc., then replace the valve or take it to a ferrous metal. -gun - only the correct reducer for its pressure. – don’t worry about 27 liters of gas. It looks like you haven’t experienced any fires or explosions yet... |
Author: Khoper (—.san.ru) Date: 14-11-15 15:54 These cylinders are now in ferrous metal like dirt, I recently handed over 3 of them, almost unused, my mother sold the dacha, there was nowhere to put it. Here they sell it for 300 rubles, then they accept it for 100 rubles by weight. |

Leaving this cylinder alone (or spending it on a plika) and buying the one you need is easier than becoming disabled. Here, two weeks ago, one of us decided to drain the remaining gas from the cylinder before refilling it (at the gas station we only refill empty ones) and I don’t know how it happened, but the jacket gave a spark when rubbing - the result is disastrous. |
Author: bahader (—.opera-mini.net) Date: 14-11-15 17:19 In nature, there is a special adapter from a valve cylinder to a reducer. On the side there is a threaded fitting for connecting the gearbox. |
Author: Sportsist (—.23.pppoe.mari-el.ru) Date: 11/15/15 01:12 Thanks for the info about the adapter - where can I get it? I asked at the gas store - have you ever heard of such a thing? |

Author: bahader (—.yota.ru) Date: 15-11-15 13:55 It is put on not from the side, but from above, (I haven’t used it for a long time, I forgot) it is fixed by sliding the bracket, the one at the bottom, which is in the form of tweezers, and behind it the lower part is screwed onto the upper one. We hold the upper part with our hand, it remains motionless, there is a gearbox and a hose on it. We open the tap - it opens “CLOCKLY!” arrow, and we use it... In Novosibirsk, filling a cylinder up to 50 liters with a valve is a huge problem, but you can exchange any valve at every corner. And this is approximately the pressure that a person can, even “to hell”, give out with his mouth. 1.5 is already serious. Although the roof burner - “Aladdin” - works at exactly this pressure. Like a propane cutter, however... |
Author: s494 (89.179.209.—) Date: 11/17/15 02:15 The diameter of the nozzle of the roofing burner and cutter cannot be compared with a heat gun. Moreover, the main thing in the cutter is oxygen, and the flammable gas there is purely for the “ignition”; with the support of oxygen, the metal burns even without flammable gas. A gas stove works with a “frog”, and only with one burner. You light the second one and the first one immediately goes out. It’s not for me to tell you. By the way, a roofing burner with which you can work “normally” without a gearbox at all! What is forbidden, really. |
Author: Sportist (—.22.pppoe.mari-el.ru) Date: 11/17/15 03:43 with a coupling gearbox of the RDSG type, no gun (starting from 10) lights up. personally verified. The original gearbox of the gun says 1.5 bar |
Author: vitgan (—.pppoe.mtu-net.ru) Date: 11/17/15 04:24 I apologize for interfering... I connected the gun in the garage at + temperature it works fine, but when it starts minus, then after a certain time of operation it starts freeze the cylinder and the gun works like a dead man's breath! Barely!!! How can anyone escape this problem? Heating the balloon is boring... |
Author: s494 (89.179.209.—) Date: 17-11-15 04:45 I have a diesel heat gun, so it started to work poorly when condensation began to accumulate in the garage. I took the air in from outside and the problem went away. I cut off the bottom of a 10-liter plastic canister, put it on the intake, cut another hole for a plastic sewer pipe and brought the pipe into the ventilation square next to the gate. Propane cylinders in cold, humid conditions freeze over everything based on the level of gas in it. But you have a reducer, you can control the gas supply pressure, and if the pressure does not drop, then moisture in the air is preventing combustion. So I took clean frosty air from outside into the cannon, the garage began to dry out and the heat began to reach the most remote corners of the garage. |

Review from a real buyer:
I took this heater purely out of interest, it’s the first time I’ve seen such a “Cheburashka”. It turned out to be an excellent thing: it costs little money, there is little gas, it does not burn oxygen at all. In short, if it weren’t for the funny look, it could be used anywhere, but for the home it’s a nice and useful thing.

Tests
Upon completion of the connection, you need to make sure that all connections are tight. To do this, slowly unscrew the valve on the cylinder. The presence of a characteristic hiss will indicate the serviceability of the gearbox. Next, prepare a solution of water and soap, achieving the formation of thick foam. Using a sponge or shaving brush, apply lather to each joint. If bubbles are detected, carefully tighten it.
The characteristics of the propane-butane mixture are such that its mass exceeds the mass of oxygen. In case of omissions, it begins to accumulate in unventilated spaces, displacing air. Therefore, it is better not to place gas cylinders in the basement.

When repairing roofing coverings, it is often necessary to use hot air and even fire: to melt bitumen, melt the underside of roofing felt, and even solder the edge of a metal sheet. The fact is that you won't succeed this way. How do you direct the fire in the right direction, especially when there is wind? And how long will such torches last, since the work of laying the roof will be serious? These two main functions are performed by a gas burner. And now we’ll tell you how to choose it.
